WebSideStory Files Patent Infringement Lawsuit Against NetRatings

SAN DIEGO, CA — WebSideStory, Inc. (Nasdaq: WSSI), a leading provider of on-demand digital marketing applications, announced that it filed a patent infringement lawsuit against NetRatings, Inc., in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California. WebSideStory alleges that NetRatings infringes WebSideStory’s patent rights.

“We believe this action is necessary to protect the intellectual capital we have worked hard to develop in-house since 1996,” said Jeff Lunsford, chairman and CEO of WebSideStory. “Although we have been focused on innovation and building value for our customers, we cannot ignore companies that we believe are infringing our intellectual property.”

In its complaint against NetRatings, WebSideStory is seeking unspecified monetary damages and an injunction against further infringement by NetRatings.

Did You Know?

A patent protects your invention.

A patent for an invention is a grant of property rights by the U.S. Government through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The patent grant excludes others from making, using, or selling the invention in the United States. The terms "Patent Pending" and "Patent Applied For" are used to inform the public that an application for a patent has been filed. Patent protection does not start until the actual grant of a patent. Marking of an article as patented, when it is not, is illegal and subject to penalty.
